My last VCP was achieved 10 years ago and was called, “VMware Certified Professional for vSphere 5”. It was my last but not because I didn’t want to keep it current. It was more a case of my role changing from a hands-on professional services consultant to presales. Other reasons include children, marriage and being an adult. In my presales job, its more about helping customers build and design their VMware solutions than implementing them.
I am however proud to say that I am once again a VMware Certified having gained a VCP-Cloud 2022. This certification and associated course material was launched publicly in December 2022. The certification aims to test your knowledge on VMware’s Multi-Cloud offerings.
The course provides details about VMC on AWS, Azure VMware Solution and Google Cloud Virtual Engine. It contrasts each offering, highlighting use cases and key differences so that a partner or customer can make the right choices when selecting a VMware solution with a public cloud provider.
As with all public cloud platforms, there is detail on how to enable hybrid cloud connectivity for customers wanting to utilize existing on-premises data centre infrastructure. The course spends a bit of time going deep on networking leveraging NSX, HCX as a method of migration between sites and VCDR for Disaster Recovery in the cloud.
The course also provides labs and videos where you have a chance to click through a demo or watch some video content to further grasp the concepts (how many times have you heard people say that they learn by doing?)
This was a very challenging exam for me but I did find it incredibly rewarding.
Now, the best thing about this course is that it is available for free… Yes, seriously! If you are keen to get a new certification have a read through the post on the VMware Learning Blog
Till next time… “catchphrase”…
